Because of this, I get annoyed at pictures depicting Christ on the cross. He was there, but He is not in today. Because of that I am gifted with forgiveness, freedom, life, etc.

The sacrifice was paid. It doesn't have to be continual process. We can be grateful for the gift that was given, but gratitude is an action word.

This sounds sacrilegious, yet it is very true. We like to be the victim and martyr and play he role, but Christ already did it for us.

"Get off the cross, we need the wood." The gift is free for the taking, you don't have to play the role and act out the deed, Christ did it for us, God gave Him to us. He sits at the right hand of God and intercedes for us, He doesn't ask us to pay penance, all He asks of us is to ask in His name.
