"Let me not expect easy solutions to my problems. Make me realize that many of my difficulties were created by me, by my own reactions to the happenings in my daily life. I ask only to be guided to a better way."
This goes with my chip of the day. My problems are often of my own making. Many times, I have thought of doing my laundry, but thought was never followed up with action. Sometimes it is my attitude and I need to put more gratitude into it.

"If instead of trusting in God, I trust only my own intelligence, my own strength and my own prudence, I will not find my way to Him and His help. He has offered me the gift of faith. In accepting it, I must put aside my own human will and trust in Him."
This sounds like Step Three is the answer. I need to make a decision to turn my will and my life over to the Care of the God of my understanding. How can I understand God if I dictate and tell Him what to do. We want to be understood and cared for and we turn our focus onto others, forgetting to do the same for ourselves.

Today's Reminder

"I will guard against looking for flaws in others, I will try to see what is good in them. I go to Al-Anon to learn, and every meeting is precious."
This is Step 10 for me. For every finger I point outward, I have three coming back at me. You can get tired of working so hard if you keep pointing that finger. If we get lucky, we get better even if the other person doesn't, unless we ignore those three fingers, then we get sick, stay sick until we are willing to change our ways. Keep coming so you don't have to come back. I don't want to go back to where I came from. I want to change and become a better, more loving person.

Today's Reminder

I cannot simply shrug off the responsibility for facing my problems, however great they may be. True, I need God's guidance, but acting upon it is my job. I cannot evade it without turning my back on life itself.

"Let me not yield to apathy or defeatism, when in and all around me are the evidences of a loving God who will help me in all my need."
This reminds me of the meditation that has stuck with me over the years, "Give thanks it is already on it's way. It may not be in our time and we may become despondent. It has been my experience, that things go better when I ask God for what I need, and not be specific. He sees the whole picture. Sometimes we have tunnel vision and blockages that keep us from accepting and being open minded enough to receive the blessing that come our way.
