Default It Is Not Us

IT IS NOT US

It is not us. It is God. Whenever we begin believing it is all about us and start making decisions based on our feelings, then we will soon drift away from God. God is the One who decides to show us mercy. God is the One who is in charge. God is the One who created us, has a plan for us and will show us the right paths to take. Without Him, we would be lost. Without Him, we would be doomed. Without Him, we wouldn’t even be here. We should be grateful, honored and obedient to Him because He created us, loves us and has mercy on us and we can totally rely on Him in all things. And for that reason, and many more, we should be humble.

Romans 9:16 “So it is God who decides to show mercy. We can neither choose it nor work for it.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we are totally grateful we can depend on You. We are grateful it is Your decision to show mercy. We are grateful there is nothing we can do to earn that grace and mercy. We humbly come to You now knowing we are nothing without You. Help us to put You first in all we do. Help us to come to You in all things. Remind us daily You are in control. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

When we humble ourselves before God, we realize it is all Him and not us who has the final say.

God decides to show mercy on us. There is nothing we can do to earn that from Him.

When we humble ourselves before God, we get a sense of relief that being totally dependent on Him sets us free.

We need to be sure what we say, think and do are not for us but for God.

When we begin thinking we are in charge and we are better than others, we will fail at what God wants us to do.

Philippians 2:3 “Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.” (NLT)

Focus: Be grateful you can depend on God and that He shows mercy on you. Humble yourselves before Him.

As I have said many times, my service sponsor said, "I don't care who or what your God is as long as it isn't you."

I hear people say they are in control of their lives. I am in control of my life through my God. When I surrender to my God and the program of recovery, I am empowered to live clean and sober and walk a spiritual life, one day at a time.
