Jesus is a true friend
SonLight Daily DevotionalDaily Devotional from the desk of Pastor Curt McComis John 15:13 "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." Our Lord is our friend through thick and thin. He does not leave us when trouble comes, as some may. He is there to uphold us no matter what is going on. He will not stand there and accuse us; saying it must be our fault, as the three friends of Job did. He doesn't disappear if things are not going right. He says, "I will never leave thee, not forsake thee" in Hebrews 13:5b. What a great promise this is knowing that this friend will not, will not, will not leave us. No, not ever. There is a great difference between a true friend and an acquaintance. A friend will have us in their prayers, while acquaintances may remember us once in awhile in prayer. Our Lord says "He ever liveth to make intercession for them" in Hebrews 7:25b. Day after day, our friend that sticketh closer than a brother is interceding for us. What a great friend we have in Jesus Christ our Lord! Husbands should not only love their wives, but should also be their best friend. Friends talk through hard times. They do not just walk away. Friends will not go out and find someone else they think they can talk to easier about details of life problems. Jesus Christ said, "You are my friends, if you do whatsoever I command you" in John 15:14. John 13:34 "A new commandment I give unto you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another." Truly when we love one another we are Christ Jesus' friend. Be a friend and love the brethren. If you are not saved and born again, ask Christ Jesus into your heart, and you will have a friend for eternity.
