Default Quiet Rest

QUIET REST

Everyone today has so much to do that they rarely have time to do what is important. There is work, school, chores, etc. that keep us from taking time away for ourselves. We rarely have time for us, let alone time for God; however, if we wait for the right moment to spend time with God we will never find it. In order to have quiet rest or quiet time with God, we have to schedule it. When we put Him first and take time to take care of ourselves, everything else will get done because God will see to it that it does.

Mark 6:31 “Then Jesus said, ‘Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.’ He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, sometimes we have our priorities backwards. Sometimes we try to get everything done that is not important first. Sometimes we try to get the little things taken care of or we get consumed by the distractions in life. Help us to live intentionally for You every day by putting You first and spending quiet time with You. Help us to remember to take care of ourselves so we don’t get worn out and can’t do anything. We give You our lives and our day to show us how we can best live for You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Taking time to rest and spending time with God will do more good for us than anything else on this earth can.

We all need to retreat and rest in order to spend time with God and refresh our minds and bodies.

God wants us to know He can give us the rest we need if only we would spend time with Him.

Taking time for ourselves is not selfish when we are doing it to refuel with God’s word and nourishment.

When we take time for God, He will take care of us.

Philippians 4:19 “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” (NLT)

Focus: If we intentionally take time to rest and spend quiet time with God, He will help us accomplish what needs to be done.

We stay sober and clean together - one day at a time!
