GIVE ENCOURAGEMENT

The peace and joy many feel at Christmastime is due largely to the fact we are focused on giving. When we give we feel good. When we give, we encourage others. When we give, we have the opportunity to share the love of God with others. Christmastime is a time we can encourage those who are struggling with hope that only comes from Jesus who is the true reason for the season. When we give this year, let's remember we are commanded to give and encourage each other in our giving.

SCRIPTURE:
2 Corinthians 13:11 "Dear brothers and sisters, I close my letter with these last words: Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you." (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write down ways you can encourage others.
2. List some people who you can encourage.
3. Look for ways to share God's word with others.
4. Pray for God to reveal opportunities to share more this year.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, thank You so much for Your encouraging words which remind us what is important in life. We know it's not important we have the best clothes or the newest electronic devices. We know it's not important we have a lot of money in the bank or the best paying job. We know it's not important we have the best and the most of everything. It is important, however, we focus on giving and encouraging others. Show us someone who needs encouragement today and remind us to give as You have called us to give. In Jesus' name. Amen.

REMEMBER
This time of year many people are lonely and need an encouraging and friendly word.

We are called to live as God commands and He wants us to grow in His word so we can do His will.

God gives us direction and guidance in life because it is a matter of life or death that we do what He calls us to do.

It is not important we have the best things of the world. It is important, however, we give our best to God.

God wants us to encourage and build each other up. There will be times in life when we all need encouraging.

FOCUS:
1 Thessalonians 5:11 "So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing." (NLT)

Giving is a great way to encourage others and let them know we care.

We stay sober and clean together - one day at a time!
